By accessing or using Outcry AI products and services, including the Outcry AI website (outcryai.com), the Outcry AI iOS/macOS application, and related services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Outcry AI provides AI-powered tools for activists, organizers, and researchers. The Service includes a web-based AI assistant, the Outcry app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, research tools, and related features. App versions 2.0 and later are clients of the same online service as the website and need an internet connection; versions 1.x ran an AI model on the device.
Outcry AI uses artificial intelligence to generate responses. AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading. You should not rely on AI output as professional, legal, medical, or tactical advice. Always verify important information independently. You are solely responsible for how you use information provided by the Service.
You agree not to use the Service to:
Outcry AI, its logo, the AI model, training data curation, and software are the intellectual property of Outcry AI and its creator, Micah White, PhD. The AI models, and any model files distributed with the app, are licensed for personal use within the Service and may not be extracted, copied, or used independently. Content you create through the Service belongs to you.
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. The website and app versions 2.0 and later are covered by our Privacy Policy. The app also has an App Privacy Policy, which describes what the app collects and the earlier on-device versions.
Outcry AI reserves the right to use conversations with free-tier and guest users — past and future — to train, fine-tune, and evaluate future Outcry AI models. This is how we keep Outcry free for activists who cannot pay. Before your conversations enter a training dataset we strip IP addresses and hash identifiers.
How conversations are processed. Every conversation, on every tier, is processed by the AI service providers Outcry works with in order to generate replies, and may be used by those providers to improve their services under their own terms. We do not publish user conversations. If we release training datasets publicly — for other activist AI projects to build on — those datasets contain only synthetically generated conversations, produced by our models rather than written by users.
Paid subscribers are opted out by default. Your conversations as a paid subscriber are not added to Outcry’s own training datasets unless you explicitly opt in from Settings · Privacy. You can change your choice at any time.
The iOS and macOS app. App versions 2.0 and later use the same Outcry service as the website and are covered by these terms; versions 1.x ran an AI model on the device and sent no conversations to us. A separate, app-specific privacy policy is available at outcryai.com/privacy/app.
Free-tier users can delete their entire conversation history at any time to remove it from our systems before it is used for training, or upgrade to a paid tier to opt out going forward.
Some features of the Service require a free or paid account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Subscriptions bought on the website are billed through Stripe. Subscriptions bought in the iOS/macOS app are billed by Apple through your Apple ID, renew automatically until you cancel them in your Apple ID settings, and are also subject to Apple’s terms. All subscriptions are subject to the pricing and terms displayed at the time of purchase. The app can be used, and a subscription bought, without creating an account; signing in is optional.
We may update, modify, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. App versions 2.0 and later depend on the online Service to generate replies; versions 1.x run on the device. We are not obligated to provide updates, support, or maintenance for any version of the software.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Outcry AI and its creator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. Total liability for any claim arising from use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Outcry AI and its creator from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of California.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
