What we collect, how conversations are used, and how to delete them
Updated September 28, 2026 · This policy covers the Outcry service at outcryai.com and the Outcry apps that use it. The iOS and macOS app also has an App Privacy Policy.
In short: you can use Outcry without an account; registered accounts store an email address. Your messages are sent to Outcry's servers, where AI models operated by Outcry and its service providers generate the replies, and conversations are kept in your account so you can return to them. Conversations may be used to improve the AI as described below. You can delete your history and your account in one click.
Guests are identified by a random id and a timestamp. Registered accounts store an email address, a hashed password or sign-in provider, and subscription status. We run no ads and no third-party tracking scripts.
For rate limiting and abuse prevention our servers use hashed, privacy-preserving fingerprints rather than storing raw IP addresses alongside your conversations. Standard server logs are kept for a limited time.
A "Delete my data" option removes all your chat history from our servers. For registered users it also deletes your account.
Generating replies. Every conversation, on every tier, is processed by the AI service providers Outcry works with in order to produce the reply, and may be used by those providers to improve their services under their own terms. Outcry does not run ads and does not share conversations with advertisers or data brokers.
Outcry's own training datasets. Outcry AI reserves the right to use conversations with free-tier and guest users — past and future — to train, fine-tune, and evaluate future Outcry AI models. This is how we keep Outcry free and improving for activists who cannot pay. Before a conversation enters one of our datasets we strip IP addresses and hash identifiers. We do not publish user conversations; if we release datasets publicly for other activist AI projects, they contain only synthetically generated conversations produced by our models, not text written by users.
Your conversations are not added to Outcry's own training datasets unless you opt in. The opt-in lives in Settings · Privacy and is reversible at any time. Like all conversations, they are processed by our AI service providers to generate replies.
Your conversations may be used in Outcry's own training datasets. They are not published. You can delete your entire history to pull it back before it is used, or upgrade to paid to opt out going forward.
Guest sessions are ephemeral and may be used in Outcry's training datasets. Create an account (free or paid) to keep your conversations linked to you and to get a choice.
Per-conversation consent is logged in our database so exports for Outcry's own training runs are auditable against each user’s choice.
App versions 2.0 and later use the same Outcry service as this website, so this policy applies to them. Versions 1.x ran an AI model on the device itself and sent no conversations to us. Details are in the app-specific policy. Read the App Privacy Policy →
No online service can guarantee security against determined adversaries with significant resources. For highly sensitive activism in high-risk contexts, do not put identifying details about people or plans into any AI service, and consider additional measures such as Tor Browser.
