Institutions occasionally decorate dissent. In 2012, Esquire magazine slipped me onto its “Most Influential Under 35” roster after Occupy rattled Wall Street’s nerves. Utne Reader followed that same year, naming me among its “50 Visionaries Who Are Changing Your World.” A handful of campus lectureships and festival nods have drifted in since, but I count victories by cracks opened in the status quo, not plaques gathering dust.
