Who is Micah White?
Micah White is the movement strategist who helped conjure Occupy Wall Street into being, writing the original call-to-action that leapt from the pages of Adbusters onto the steps of Zuccotti Park and, briefly, into the global imagination. He went on to dissect that uprising’s limits in his book The End of Protest, insisting that tomorrow’s revolutions will hinge less on crowd size and more on tactical novelty, mythic storytelling and the construction of parallel sovereignties.
Raised in a conservative evangelical household, educated at Swarthmore, tempered by street marches from Seattle 1999 to São Paulo’s June Days, White blends scholarly depth with frontline scars. Today he experiments from a small coastal town in Oregon, convening activist-monastic retreats and probing how spiritual practice might fuse with insurgent strategy.
If protest as we know it is exhausted, White asks, will we dare to invent entirely new rituals of popular power before the next crisis arrives?
